Urban Pacifika Records was formed in 1994 and was the brain child of the late Phillip Fuemana.

UPR was the first indie record label owned & run by Pacific Islanders and Phil was the driving force behind its music & Image. You really can't talk about UPR without talking about Phillip and the influence that Phillip had on the NZ music industry was huge and opened the door to many other artists.

Phillip & UPR will always be remembered for his pioneering work in music and his attention to detail, his love for a challenge and his love for his family.

Phillip was the oldest in his family and his influence over the family was huge,

Brother Tony and his group Pacific Tone was the first Pacific music group to lock down the top five spots in the first ever Internet music chart for 5 weeks and took the top 5 spots in Oceania and the pacific rim. Tony is also the current director of UPR

Brother Pauly Fuemana became the first NZ Pacific artists to have #1 hit in 8 different countries and to sell over a million albums.

Sister Christina was nominated in the NZ music awards and lent her vocals to a number of NZ's best musicians and is currently working with Dawn Raid.

Overall the family has won over 12 NZ music awards and number of Gold and platinum disks, and this can be contributed to all the work Phillip did in the early days of UPR.

UPR will continue to be be the 'Pioneers of the Pacifikan frontier'



Phillip Fuemana is the oldest of 4 siblings and started being involved in music from a very early age, he worked with many of NZ's top musicians and forged a name in NZ music as a producer that won't easily be forgotten. Phillip passed away on Feb 05.



OMC was the brain child of Phillip Fuemana and he wanted a vehicle for his instrumental music, encouraging a reluctant Pauly Fuemana to be involved in the group, Phillip Molded what was to be the most successful group in NZ during the 90's with hit song 'How Bizarre'

 




Paul Fuemana the most successful Pacific island artist ever with a number 1 hit in 8 different countries and over a million albums sold.

 




Christina Fuemana nominated for a NZ music award and currently lending her vocal talents to Dawn Raid.

 




Tony Fuemana current director of UPR & has directed a number of documentaries and also a feature film.
